If you’re serious about protecting your Macbook, then you’re probably one of those people that will happily spend one hundred dollars finding a sturdy, solid, stylish and safe bag for your Macbook or Macbook Pro. STMBags is a company that truly encompasses these four traits in all of their bags, especially the 13″ Alley.
STMBags is an Australian company located just minutes away from the world renown Bondi Beach. With an exceptional company mission, thoughtful designs, protection without compromise and the environment in mind, nearly all of their bags are wonderful.
Now, first thing that is noticeable about this case is design. This bag is not simply one slot for your Macbook, but a myriad of pockets, zips, pouches and flaps. If you’re heading off to college or university, this is the bag for you. There’s space to fit textbooks, papers, a pencil case (providing it’s small and thin) and your phone, meaning you can get away with only bringing one bag. STM truly throws out the standard landscape bag and spins this one into portrait, which is an interesting twist that never fails to turn heads. What’s worth noting is that the strap is extremely long, (which we like) and is fully adjustable for whatever height. Far too often, we see laptop bags with short straps that make carrying the bag uncomfortable, so it’s great to see STM giving consumers what we want.
The next point about this bag is protection. The outer lining is a polyester ripstop material, with an inner coating for water resistance. This guarantees you water resistance (from rain or splashes, don’t go jumping into a pool). Then there’s the inner lining which is a water resistant nylon. The duraflex buckles and clips allow for seamless, strong and sturdy clips, which are simply easy to remove. Now, how about where the laptop goes? This is the selling point of a laptop bag, the laptop protection compartment. Thankfully, STM uses EVA padding which ensures a soft, yet secure platform for you to rest your beloved MacBook Pro. High quality load bearing stitching is also used throughout the entire design, so this bag won’t un-thread before your eyes.
The final part to review about the Alley is the price. At only USD $39.99 (AUD $79.95), this is a great price for such a solid product. Of course, it’s not the cheapest on the market, but we feel that for the protection, design, style and innovation of the Alley that it is one of the best value bags on the market.
So what’s bad about the Alley? Nothing. Everything you’d need in a laptop bag is supplied by the Alley, with a few incredible bonus features. Ordinarily, we see cheaply constructed bags that feel and look great, but dwindle down after a few weeks of heavy use. We’ve been testing this product for around a month now, and we can say, without hesitation that this is a great bag. In my personal opinion, it’s the best laptop bag I’ve ever used.
All in all, with a brilliant, stylish design, sturdy, structured build with a myriad of compartments that are waterproof and a cheap price tag, the STM Alley is a brilliant MacBook Pro bag.
